Chuckles tells it like it is. I know little of the theory behind chaos magic, and it might well be totally sound, and you might well be masters weilding it, seeding love wherever you go. All I know is that I have felt chaos magic before and its particular flavor is pretty distasteful. Do you know what it MEANS to unleash chaos on the world? And do you understand that this unleashing, to be good, must have much finer control than is expressed in the word "chaos". And if, because you saw chaos in a light which released the epiphany: "chaos is good", you do know that this doesn't make chaos good, but only in that particular way chaos is good? Right?? I hope you understand this. It's pretty clear from all your comments, particularly those above, that in fact you do not know much at all about the theory of Chaos magic nor have much if any experience with it. Not as I understand Chaos magic, not as Hakim Bey, A.O. Spare, or Phil Hine expound on it. Not as I've heard it expressed by Jaq and Anton and Vlad and many others. What chaos is, as understood by both chaos magic and chaos math/science, is quite distinct from what you're going on about, which is something we've already discussed ad naseum, so please check the archives on the yahoo groups site in hope of acquiring a clue. You may have experienced one of the "blacker than black magic Chaotes" fucking around with shit like Liber Nox without understanding it, I've known several of those myself and agree that they have an unpleasent "flavour"(though I must admit to not having actually tasted them, I have better sense than that), but if you are still arguing and reasoning as you write you clearly have not felt any connection to the Joy and Terror that is Mother Chaos, nor known one who does.(please note that that is my own mythopoetic conception, and others may not think of it with like images) No one here is saying "chaos is good", rather most of us have realized that good and evil are simply far to simplistic for the useful analysis of anything. Good and not-good? For whom, may I ask? "Mankind"? We do not exist as totalizing abstractions, but as individuals. There is no good and not-good with out reference to "to whom?" As I see it, the status quo is good for a few and bad for many, while what we are doing is good for many (at least in the long run) and bad for a few. Your entire analysis leaves that out and postulates "good" and "not-good" (incidentally a rather transparent attempt to pretend you don't mean the old tired "good and evil" continuum when you clearly do) "energies". There is no such thing, energy is energy, power is power (though Vlad and I can argue the terminology to no end). The moral dimension is determined by what we do with it, not it in itself, and refers to nothing outside humanity. What we are calling into being is a clearly programmed energy entity/vortex (again, my own model, but you get my meaning), not some general "rip in space time" to your outdated conception of "chaos"(by which you clearly mean evil again) which would certainly be a dangerous undertaking. A clearly focused consciousness is well able to direct large "volumes of energy" (to use the most ontologically suspect phrase I've heard in a while) and what comes through any gate is determined, or perhaps patterened, by the patterns/angles of consciousness that called the gate into being. I and many others here know from wide variety of experience that one disciplined mind is more than capable of focusing/commanding the energy/estacy/gnosis generated by countless undisciplined minds, and when the minds are not entirely undisciplined and also focused on a common symbology fair precision in command is more than possible. If I wasn't confident in my own skills and those of many others in this project, then I might have concerns that something other than what we call Chaos might come through, but as it stands I have no fear. Besides, so far the Toronto Chuckling Chaos Crew is planning on invoking Tom Bombadil and Goldberry to empower the rite, and even the One Ring couldn't corrupt them. We know and understand what we are doing quite well. You do not. If you're still trembling with fear over consequences, I recommend brushing up on your shielding and wards, more to get your mind on something else than any real need to shield from what we are doing. Anyway, that get's my daily rant out of the way. Bright Blessings'n Bullshit, Chuckles, the Wondering Monkey TEXTS T.R.I.P.S.
