Fungi on the corpse of reality I've been working with the recently awakened children of Apsu on this project and want to relate an experience that I had with them.... I walked to the area where the first child had awakened and began to communicate with him... I was pretty sleep=deprived at the time, and things had a surreal cast to them already... I noticed some dead trees that had fallen over the stream at wierd angles... There were many types of fungus and moss growing on them, which I was sure hadn't been there the last time I visited... The fungus inspired a deep, almost paralyzing terror in me, and I was not sure why. I spoke to the dragon about it and he said "don't you see? we are the fungus on the decaying corpse of reality." I understood this intellectually, what the fungus represented, but still felt the irrational, deep terror. I forced myself to walk over the the trees and touch the various molds, ingoring my conventional grey good sense that I should not touch things I am allergic to. as I put my hands upon the fungus, I noticed their breathtaking beauty, their individuality, their sacred purpose in the cycles of the universe, such as they are... WE are the fungi... The grey reality is already dead. It is resisiting its breakdown, having died of its own stagnation a long, long time ago.... We are teh agents of decay, the things that break the old greyfaced world into soil in which new worlds and new possibilities will grow. Since that experience, my ability to see possible futures has greatly increased.... My mind goes sideways in time of its own accord, showing vast multitiudes of possibilities twisting and turning into each other. Throught our actions, we can choose what grows from the broken-down corpse of the old world. Critical mass has been reached.
